The Caledonian Society of Alabama (Birmingham)
...was formed to preserve and promote Scottish Heritage. Although members are primarily located in the Birmingham area, the Caledonians include members from throughout the state. They are family-oriented having many interests such as: Scottish music and dancing, genealogy and Scottish Arts and Crafts. The Caledonians host for special events each year: The Robert Burns Dinner, Spring and Fall Picnics and the St. Andrew's Banquet. The Tennessee Valley Scottish Society (Huntsville)
...was established in 1988 to further the interest in all things Scottish through education and recreational activities. The TVSS publishes a regular newsletter, Scot Watch and annually hosts and implements the North Alabama Scottish Games and Festival. The Society of Scottish Armigers
This North American organization was founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 2002. It consists of individuals with Arms registered in the Public Register of all Arms and Bearings in Scotland at the Court of the Lord Lyon, King of Arms in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Society of Scottish Armigers was founded with the goal of assisting and hleping to educate the Scottish-American community and public at large about Scottish Heraldry, Armory and Clan Tradition. The Scottish Society of Mobile
...Hosts regular meetings in the Mobile area and participates in various Scottish-themed events during the year including an annual Burns Night Dinner, Tartan Day Celebrations and more. The St. Andrew's Society of Tuscaloosa
Celebrating Scottish heritage in Tuscaloosa is the St. Andrew's Society. This organization works with various local groups to promote Scottish awareness through Tartan Day, Burns Night, St. Andrew's Dinners and more. Friends of Wales Society
The Alabama Welsh began meeting in 2006 and have since developed a membership of Welsh descendants, Welsh natives and fans of the culture of Wales. The Friends of Wales Society currently meet at the Little Professor Book Center in Homewood the fourth Saturday of the month at 2:00 pm to share stories, news and programs relating to the heritage and lifestyle of Wales. The Birmingham Irish Cultural Society (BICS)
Dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Irish Heritage, BICS hosts an annual St. Patrick's Day Party as a fundraiser to support various worthy causes including: The Greater Birmingham Humane Society, The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation and The Literacy Council. BICS is also instrumental in producing the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Birmingham. Irish Heritage and Arts Community
CCE as a heritage organization promotes the culture and arts of Ireland. CCE was organized in 1951 in Ireland and has fostered outward since that time. CCE invites new members to participate in many events. There are a wealth of resources available to members, such as dance and music instruction. NEW! Ancient Order of Hibernians Seeking Members
Efforts are currently underway to establish Alabama's first ever Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The Hibernians are the most prominent Irish Catholic charitable and fraternal organization in the country with membership throughout the U.S. The American organization was founded in 1836 in New York and traces its roots to 16th century Ireland. Since its inception, the Hibernians have been at the forefront of promoting Irish Catholic culture and causes in the States. The groups motto and primary mission is to promote "Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity." Membership is available to males over the age of 16 who are Roman Catholic and Irish by descent or birth.
